Oh, the Places You’ll Go Glamping

Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, the author of beloved books like The Cat in the HatHow the Grinch Stole Christmas and One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish was born on March 4, 1904. Before he passed away in 1991, he published his anthem to empowerment, Oh, the Places You’ll Go. The book details life’s journeys with all its ups and downs and how to navigate them. We like to think life’s journeys include some good glamping trips so check out these places to go when glamping with us:

Open year-round, outdoor fun from skiing to hiking to fishing and festivals can be found when glamping at these locations. Or go coastal and explore the Oregon Coast with a stay at several glamping locations along the coast. Check out petiteretreats.com to see what appeals to your PNW glamping mindset.

Of course, music is the main draw for a girls’ glamping getaway to Nashville, but there is also much more to see and do in Music City USA. First, book a tiny house stay at the Natchez Trace Tiny House Village and then plan an agenda that includes music, shopping, food, more shopping, more food and well, you get the picture. Speaking of pictures, share your gal’s trip adventures on Instagram using Nashville’s fabulous murals as your backdrop. Head to the trendy Gulch neighborhood for a shot with the iconic “Nashville Wings” and then head over to the 12 South neighborhood for even more murals. While in 12 South, get your fill of boutique shopping at such stores like Alice and Olivia and Rag and Bone for clothing, Gorjana or Mejuri for jewelry, and Planet Cowboy for high-end western wear. Who doesn’t love chocolate, or the experience of making your own sweet treats? There’s a class at the Goo Goo Cluster Store, which is the home of one of Nashville’s most favorite treats (getyourguide.com has info on how to sign up for this one-hour class.) Take in a show at famous Ryman Auditorium, visit the many country-music themed attractions like the Johnny Cash Museum or the Country Music Hall of Fame; grab some famous Southern fare like a fried bologna sandwich at Robert’s Western World or some Nashville hot chicken at Hattie B’s or the best biscuits you’ll ever have at the Loveless Cafe.

3 Indoor Glamping Adventures for Staying Cool This Summer

The great thing about glamping accommodations is that the weather isn’t the biggest factor when in comes to changing plans. How many times have you been sweating through a heat wave and tempted to end the camping trip early? With glamping accommodations like cabins, cottages and tiny houses, we say bring on the sun, wind, and rain since the roof over your head is pretty solid. Plan your next glamping expedition in a glamping accommodation with us and check out our list of indoor attractions where you’ll have fun, whether or not the weather cooperates.

Mt. Hood Tiny House Village: Rent a tiny house accommodation and if the weather proves too inclement for all the outdoor fun here, check out the North American Bigfoot Center for some “big” indoor fun at this museum that includes bigfoot evidence, artifacts and a life-sized sasquatch replica! The Mt. Hood Scenic Byway is a great way to see the area from the controlled climate of your vehicle – this 100-mile loop circles the south side of Mt. Hood. You can also opt for the less than an hour drive into Portland to see some of Rose City’s best indoor attractions including the Portland Art Museum, the Pittock Mansion, and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.

Natchez Trace Tiny House Village: You never know what Mother Nature has in store, so maybe a tiny house accommodation is a good idea if you plan on visiting Nashville on your next glamping trip. Indoor attractions worth a look in Nashville include the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Ryman Auditorium and the Frist Art Museum. And if you’re looking for cozy comfort food, take a drive to the Loveless Cafe for their homemade biscuits and southern comfort food or Hattie B’s for a taste of some of Nashville’s famous hot chicken.

Cottages at Encore Tropical Palms
Cottages at Encore Tropical Palms

Encore Tropical Palms colorful cottages: OK, so this is a Disney-friendly location in Kissimmee offering colorful glamping cottages, but what is there to do in Disney when you need an escape from the heat? According to mostmagicalblog.com, Disney is still very doable and alternatives to outdoor attractions include indoor rides like the Haunted Mansion, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, The American Adventure and Country Bear Jamboree, to name a few (there are plenty more!) Plus, the shops and restaurants provide dry spaces throughout the four theme parks in Walt  Disney World! Other indoor attractions in the area include the Museum of Military History, the SEA Life Orlando Aquarium, and Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition.

The Best Weekend Getaways to Take This Year

Think about this – as of February 1, summer is still roughly 140 days away. Spring break is closer but it seems like everyone is traveling at the same during spring break getaways so fighting crowds could be a downside there. Ok…so what do you do? Enjoy the weekend getaway, as often as you like! These quick trip options may just be the travel fix you need after a long work week and before you can take a long extended getaway that, as we figure, is still about 20-plus weeks away!

Pacific City RV & Camping Resort Yurt
Thousand Trails Pacific City RV & Camping Resort

Leave the city behind and head to the beach with a quick getaway from Portland to Thousand Trails Pacific City RV & Camping Resort. Glamp in a relaxing yurt accommodation here and plan to commune with the nature found in this great Oregon Coast setting. Wanna whale watch? Mark your calendar for the week of March 24 which is when Whale Watching Week 2023 begins along the coast. Cape Meares National Wildlife Refuge is a great spot for birding, wildlife watching and hiking as several trails here are open year-round. Take a drive to the Tillamook Cheese Factory and enjoy ice cream or that big wheel of cheese you’ve been dreaming of! Or, just walk the beach and watch the waves crash against the rocks! Pretty neat weekend getaway for sure.

Natchez Trace Tiny House Village
Natchez Trace Tiny House Village

The Natchez Trace Tiny House Village is about a five-hour drive from major cities like Cincinnati and Indianapolis. That’s not a bad little road trip to find the relaxation of these southern charming glamping accommodations and the southern hospitality found in all the nearby attractions. With Natchez Trace as your home base, you can do big city fun in Nashville or enjoy small town charmers like Leiper’s Fork and Franklin. Nashville highlights include the Country Music Hall of Fame, the classic Ryman Auditorium and the great honky-tonks and eateries found in the city’s Broadway Historic District. Leiper’s Fork has don’t-miss barbeque and biscuits at Fox & Locke and an eclectic assortment of shops, plus the Leiper’s Fork Distillery, featuring Tennessee spirits. Franklin offers a Saturday Farmer’s Market, the Franklin on Foot walking tour, which is a great way to the town’s historical sites and plenty of shopping and eating options.

If you’re lucky enough to call any of the major cities in the Sunshine State home, you are at least blessed with plenty of regular sunshine. But all sun and no play, can make for some dull weekends, so we suggest a getaway to a colorful cottage at Encore Tropical Palms Resort in Kissimmee (conveniently located only a mini-road trip away from points like Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa/St. Pete and Sarasota.) Because the weather cooperates most days, outdoor fun is definitely doable here. Paddle Shingle Creek in a kayak, swim with the manatees on a guided tour of the Crystal River, or bike the many trails in the area. Shingle Creek in fact has a great trail for pedestrians and cyclists – the Shingle Creek Regional Trail. If kitsch is on the menu – consider visiting Gatorland or Eli’s Orange World, both of which are worthy of some great shots to share on all things social media! Of course, there are the major theme parks if you want to feel like a kid again and upcoming local festivals include EPCOT’s International Flower and Garden Festival (begins March 1) and the Orlando Wine Festival is set for March 24-26.
