Hood Tiny House Village: Rent a tiny house accommodation and if the weather proves too inclement for all the outdoor fun here, check out the North American Bigfoot Center for some “big” indoor fun at this museum that includes bigfoot evidence, artifacts and a life-sized sasquatch replica! The Mt. Hood Scenic Byway is a great way to see the area from the controlled climate of your vehicle – this 100-mile loop circles the south side of Mt. Hood. You can also opt for the less than an hour drive into Portland to see some of Rose City’s best indoor attractions including the Portland Art Museum, the Pittock Mansion, and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.
Natchez Trace Tiny House Village: You never know what Mother Nature has in store, so maybe a tiny house accommodation is a good idea if you plan on visiting Nashville on your next glamping trip. Indoor attractions worth a look in Nashville include the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Ryman Auditorium and the Frist Art Museum. Plus, the shops and restaurants provide dry spaces throughout the four theme parks in Walt Disney World! Other indoor attractions in the area include the Museum of Military History, the SEA Life Orlando Aquarium, and Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition.
If corn is supposed to be as high as an elephant’s eye come July, we got to thinking about other high things. For instance, did you know the highest recorded cornstalk was 45 feet – found in western New York. Or that the tallest building in America is New York’s One World Trade Center soaring 1776 feet into the sky. What else is way up there..?

10. Miami, Florida: Choose from a variety of glamping accommodations at Encore Miami Everglades and take in the holiday events planned in the area. Night at the Garden, which runs through January 2025, is a neon wonderland at the Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden while Christmas Wonderland at Tropical Park, is billed as a “Candyland-inspired spectacle” that features thousands of lights, amusement rides and several immersive installations that promise to provide the perfect backdrop for a photo (through January 5); and Zoo Lights Miami which runs through December 30.
11. If you still have gifts to buy, consider something from the Ansel Adams Gallery which offers several gift collections. On the snowy side, options could include Washington’s Thousand Trails Leavenworth, Oregon’s Mt. Hood Village Resort, and Thousand Trails Yosemite Lakes in California. Leavenworth averages 89 inches of snowfall per winter so there’s no end to the white stuff for snowmobiling, skiing, sledding and snowboarding. If fun in the sun is on the agenda this winter, visit the Florida Keys where fun in the sun is an everyday event. Of course, no visit to The Keys is complete without checking out Key West – the storied island known for its six-toed cats, Hemingway history and Key Lime Pie! The meaning of the saying “good things come in small packages” is basically that things don’t need to be large to be good. In the case of our Petite Retreat accommodations, that saying is spot on. Did you know that hugging a tree is good for you and brings about feelings of wellbeing and calm? Studies have shown that hugging a tree actually increases levels of oxytocin, the hormone responsible for many feelings including empathy and it also helps with symptoms of depression and anxiety. Just five minutes of a good tree hug is all that’s needed!
Aside from the health benefits, hugging, and just generally enjoying, trees in the month we celebrate not only Earth Day, but also Arbor Day, is good idea. Trees are an important part of Earth Day (celebrated on April 22) because they aid in climate change by removing carbon dioxide from the air as well as releasing oxygen into the air. To ensure we continue to have plenty of trees, Arbor Day efforts encourage the planting of trees by individuals and groups on the day, which falls this year on April 28. So, get camping, get planting, and get hugging our beautiful trees.
Did you know that a Joshua tree is not actually a tree, but a succulent? No matter, the trees in California’s Joshua Tree National Park would love for you to come and hug them. In addition to the aforementioned benefits of hugging a tree, Joshua Tree National Park is said to have healing vibes, so this tree-hugging expedition is a two-fer when it comes to doing the body good.
